Carrie Underwood This darlin' little' lady from the
heartland captured the heart of the nation when she won "American Idol" in 2005.
During the contest, she showed great versatility by covering songs from artists
as diverse as Pat Benatar and Martina McBride, so we think she would bring that
same graceful flexibility to circumnavigating the pitfalls of political life.
Among her many distinctions, Underwood was named 2005's "Oklahoman of the Year"
by Oklahoma Today magazine and PETA's "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" in 2005 and
2007. The 25th Infantry Division (Task Force Lightning) also awarded her a
special distinction after performing on a USO tour in 2006. If that doesn't
translate to mass appeal, what will? We're thinking two terms here, no problem!
