A Big Life: Make Your Party Pop!

Sissy found all the help she needed at the HP Activity Center. Here are helpful some tips from Sissy and HP to help you throw your child A Big Birthday party.
  1. You can use your own home printer to create invitations, name tags, goody bags and boxes, even party hats. This will save you time and money shopping at a party store. You can also personalize any of your party materials with photos of your child.
  2. Make your party preparation a family project. Get your child or children involved cutting and assembling your party materials, addressing envelopes, making up name tags and decorating.
  3. There are lots of ways to put a new face on an old party game. For example, "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" can become "Pin the Nose on Spencer". Print up a picture of your child (at minimum your picture should be 8 ½ by 11 inches). Make little cut outs for your child's nose and affix double-sided tape on the back. Then, following the same rules as "Donkey," let the kids have at pinning the nose on the birthday boy or girl!
  4. Here's an easy way to make some fun masks for your party: Print a close-up photo of your son or daughter (8 ½ by 11 inches works best). Cut out your child's face. Mount the photo on a piece of cardboard cut to the same size as the photo cutout. Cut out little eye-holes so that your party guests can see through their masks. Mount each mask on a dowel with some heavy tape. Pass out the masks to your guests and let them be your child for the day! You can also do the same with photos of animals, other people or fun characters.
  5. Create a memento for your child by printing a photo and having all the guests sign it with birthday wishes for your son or daughter. You can have something printed out ahead of time or take photos during the party, load them up onto your computer and print a good one while the kids are busy enjoying cake. It might be fun to take a group photo of everyone holding up masks of your child's face (see Tip #4). Then challenge the children to find themselves in the photo and sign their birthday wishes or perhaps a message about what it felt like to be the birthday boy or girl for the day!
  6. Take lots of party photos with your digital camera and then load them up on Snapfish. This is an easy way to save and share your photos. The parents of your little guests will surely appreciate being able to see their little ones having fun at your party. Snapfish is also a great resource for printing your favorite photos.
