A Big Life: Mother's Day

Sissy gets some tips from Amalia's executive chef Ivy Stark on how to make the quintessential Mother's Day Brunch item…pancakes
  1. Trust your taste buds. Fresh berries are naturally sweet…the sweeter the berries the less sugar you'll need to add. It's up to you, so add to your liking.
  2. Make it creative. When you're making homemade pancakes you're the boss so why not add something special. Adding vanilla beans or polenta will make everyday pancakes a little more festive.
  3. Pre-melt your butter. Melt the butter and then let it come back to room temperature. This ensures that your batter doesn't curdle when you mix the butter with the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Keep it fresh. Put your pancakes in a pan with a warm towel. This way, you keep the batch warm and fresh while you're flipping away.
  5. A Non-Sticky Situation.  Use a non-stick pan or a spray so that you can easily flip your pancakes without a mess. It will also keep cleaning simple.
